I did not study to collect answers.
I studied to improve the questions.

My education did not follow a single disciplinary line. Each field was added when the questions I was asking became larger than the language of the field I already knew.

THE FIRST LAYER

Technology first taught me to see structure.

I began with Information Technology at Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology. It gave me a practical vocabulary for systems: how information is represented, how components communicate and how an idea becomes something that can actually run.

Computer Science at Chulalongkorn University then moved the question deeper. A working program was no longer enough. I wanted to understand why an algorithm behaves as it does, what limits its performance and how a system changes when the scale of the problem changes. My master's research on Parallel BLAST made that lesson concrete: architecture is not decoration around an algorithm; under the right conditions, it changes what the algorithm can achieve.

A useful system is built twice: first as an explanation, then as an implementation.

FROM COMPUTATION TO DISCOVERY

Engineering taught me to make ideas survive evidence.

My doctoral study in Computer Engineering at Chulalongkorn University brought together optimisation, evolutionary computation and system design. The central problem was not merely to search faster, but to understand how useful structures emerge, compete and disappear during search. That work became the COIN algorithm and a longer inquiry into positive and negative correlation learning.

A doctorate did not conclude my education. It changed its method. I became more careful about assumptions, more willing to keep a difficult question open and less impressed by an answer that cannot explain its own limits.

THE HUMAN AND COMMERCIAL SYSTEM

Computing alone could not explain the whole system.

I studied Information Science to understand how knowledge is organised and encountered. I studied Marketing because technically elegant systems still live inside organisations, choices and markets. I studied Chinese for Economy and Commerce because language changes access: it reveals how another society frames trade, value and relationships.

These were not departures from computing. They were additional lenses. Together they shaped the way I now teach, conduct research and build: begin with a precise model, but never forget that the model is entering a world already inhabited by people.
