The video below is of a song that I had not heard until it was recommended by a friend of mine on his blog. I can’t pretend to understand exactly what he’s feeling being separated from his wife for training and deployment to Iraq, so I would just encourage you to read these posts that he wrote and watch the video below.

When I saw the video and read the lyrics I was touched by the weight of loss and loneliness that some people feel daily, and reminded that there are people out there, like my friend and his wife, who make daily sacrifices that most of us can only begin to understand by watching a video. I fully admit that I don’t know what it feels like to be separated from my spouse to fight a war that I would rather disagree with from the safety of my home, or what it feels like to be that spouse having the worry of safety for her husband. Daily. Just praying that that call will not come.

And so, I encourage you to remember those that you love who might be going through the darkest part of their lives, and to pray for them. Pray that the God of all comfort will light up their lives with His love and sustain them with His hope. And remember, that although His ways are too high for us to understand, the King is still in control. We can put our trust in Him knowing that He does good work.

Sorrow came to visit us today
Was the longest day, was the loneliest day
Sorrow came to steal our hope away
Only tears can tell
Of this holy hour

This mountain’s high, too high for us
This mountain’s high, too high for us

Sorrow came quicker than a fire
Was the longest day, was the loneliest day
I feel your hand, the warmth, your sweetest smile
But you slipped away, through the great divide

This mountain’s high, too high for us
This mountain’s high, too high for us

Your ways are high, too high for us
Your ways are high, too high for us

Jeremy Camp is one of my favorite music writers. Each of his albums has been better than the one before it and the honesty and truth has shone through more each time. Below is the video from a concert where he performed the song “This Man”. Which is a kind of challenge to us to understand what Jesus really did for us and that none of us would have done it for other people, let alone for sinners.

Romans 5:6-8

6 For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— 8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (ESV)

For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

I encourage you to check out his music if you haven’t really heard it before. He has an incredible story to tell and does it very well through his music.

[youtube Df9mFYO02f4]

This Man
Jeremy Camp

In only a moment truth was seen
Revealed this mystery
The crown that showed no dignity he wore
And the king was placed for all the world to show disgrace
But only beauty flowed from this place

Would you take the place of this man
Would you take the nails from his hands
Would you take the place of this man
Would you take the nails from his hands

He held the weight of impurity
The Father would not see
The reasons had finally come to be to show
The depth of His grace flowed with every sin erased
He knew that this was why he came

Would you take the place of this man
Would you take the nails from his hands
Would you take the place of this man
Would you take the nails from his hands

And we just don’t know
The blood and water flowed
And in it all He shows
Just how much He cares

And the veil was torn
So we could have this open door
And all these things have finally been complete

Would you take the place of this man
Would you take the nails from his hands
Would you take the place of this man
Would you take the nails from his hands,
from his hands, from his hands, from his hands
